About the Photographer
Ian Sights Photography offers discriminating clients the benefit of twenty-two years of professional photography experience.
Ian's passion for photography began at the age of 8 when he received his first plastic roll film camera. Often found behind the lens of his camera throughout high school, he quickly realized that he could turn this hobby into a career.
After high school he trained with a commercial photographer, learning how to turn ordinary toasters, drills and sanders into artistic images. While studying photojournalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Ian formed his first business, taking party pics at local fraternities and sororities; he also had a number of photographs published in local news and literary publications. Through both academic and practical experience gained during those college years, Ian learned the necessary techniques to get at the heart of a photographic subject, bringing it to life through the medium of film.
A move to Minnesota brought Ian professional employment with JAM Advertising. Large format photography was the staple there, and he crafted advertising images of many products for catalogs, sell sheets, and magazines.
A few years later, in Kansas City Ian worked as the in-house image professional at Geoff Howe International. In addition to traditional film scans, digital images were now regularly used for production images. In addition, Ian resumed his freelance career, now using new digital cameras to improve quality and turn-around time for his clients. Extensive work was done for the makers of Greenies™ as that company grew from a five-person operation to a industry-leading manufacturer of pet treats. Ian's images have since graced sell sheets, the web, trade show booths, and product packaging.
Now in Honolulu, Ian brings his years of experience and enthusiasm for photography to the residents of Hawaii.
